After a string of three wins, the Cane Ridge Ravens's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 66-55 to Hillsboro. While losing is never fun, Cane Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Burros are ranked 17th).
Cane Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Avyion Mccleton, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Tyshaun Poore, who scored 16 points.
Cane Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Hillsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cane Ridge and the Raiders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McGavock and the Ravens are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Hillsboro, they will be playing at home against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Antioch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Burros like a good challenge.
