Meanwhile, Roosevelt came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Thunderbirds 16-1. Considering the Bears have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Shaylan Gourlay and Ellie Isenegger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gourlay tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Isenegger pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gourlay went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Isenegger went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Isenegger has hit this season.
In other batting news, Grace Papler was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Ava Cerda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Allen Park, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 9-2.
Allen Park took their win against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
