Pueblo Centennial is 0-10 against Pueblo Central since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Pueblo Central Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Pueblo Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
Last Friday, Pueblo Centennial lost to Pueblo South on the road by a decisive 63-45 margin. Pueblo Centennial has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Pueblo Centennial saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landen Lenn, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Lenn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyn Jara, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Central beat Pueblo East 56-43 on Tuesday. Given Pueblo Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Pueblo East is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pueblo Central relied on the efforts of Ladamien Davis, who scored 14 points along with nine steals and five rebounds, and Xavier Davis, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Luke Beltran was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Pueblo Centennial dropped their record down to 6-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Pueblo Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Pueblo Centennial suffered a grim 58-37 defeat to Pueblo Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Pueblo Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
