The Woodside Wildcats will take on the San Mateo Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Woodside sitting on 13 straight wins dating back to last season and San Mateo on three.
Woodside barely beat Milpitas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Trojans 42-14. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Woodside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Dalrymple, who threw for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. What's more, Dalrymple racked up 167.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Woodside's leading receiver Grady Furtado was Dalrymple's top target yet again, picking up 112 receiving yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, San Mateo hadn't done well against Burlingame recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bearcats walked away with a 24-14 win over the Panthers. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Bearcats were the (much) better team in the second half.
Woodside better keep an eye on Lukas Fitzgerald. He was instrumental in San Mateo's win, rushing for 171 yards and three scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Fitzgerald has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
San Mateo's run defense was locked in: Burlingame could only muster 1.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Yianni Fitzgerald for the heroic effort on defense: he. San Mateo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged seven.
San Mateo's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Fitzgerald was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Woodside's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for San Mateo, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Woodside lost to San Mateo at home by a decisive 21-7 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
