The Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nighthawks will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boquet Valley has six straight victories, Peru has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Peru scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, Boquet Valley still came out on top. Boquet Valley strolled past Peru with points to spare, taking the game 75-61. Given Boquet Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Peru is ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boquet Valley had a senior duo take command as Jackson Hooper dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds and Bode Buehler scored 21 points. The matchup was Hooper's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Burdo, who scored eight points along with seven assists.
Boquet Valley pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
