Football Recap: Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian Falls Short of Wahkiakum in the Playoffs

Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian and Wahkiakum squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Mules and fell 78-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since September 28, 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnny Ferguson, who rushed for 104 yards and four scores, and also threw for 133 yards on eight of 13 attempts. Ferguson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last nine games he's played. Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian also got help from Anthony Moskvich, who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.

Jayden Stoddard produced another solid performance rushing for 224 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes for Wahkiakum. With that strong performance, Stoddard is now averaging an impressive 104.5 rushing yards per game. Cooper Carlson was another major influence, as he rushed for 59 yards and ran in a TD.

The defeat snapped Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-3 record. As for Wahkiakum, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wahkiakum, they will take on Pomeroy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
