Basketball Game Preview: Homer Knights vs. Omaha Nation Chiefs

The Homer Knights will take on the Omaha Nation Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Homer really took it to Tri County Northeast for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-34 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-13.

Homer's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alexandra Albrecht, who went 10 of 18 en route to 26 points and four steals, and Lilly Harris, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 19 points in addition to five assists and three steals. That's the most points Albrecht has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Walker, who posted two points along with six assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, Omaha Nation came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Braves 70-34.

Homer's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Omaha Nation, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season.

Homer strolled past Omaha Nation when the teams last played on January 4th by a score of 65-47. Will Homer repeat their success, or does Omaha Nation have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
