The Oak Ridge Trojans will face off against the Whitney Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oak Ridge 2, Whitney 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Oak Ridge barely beat Granite Bay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Grizzlies on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won seven in a row.
Kennedi Freeland was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Paratore, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emery Glaser, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Oak Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Whitney never let their opponents score on Friday. They skirted past Del Oro 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Golden Eagles since April 27, 2022.
The result came thanks to Taylor Cordell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Whitney's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Steele, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Whitney's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Oak Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Whitney struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Oak Ridge's way against Whitney in their previous matchup back in June of 2025, as Oak Ridge made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
