Evangel Christian took down Wiregrass 62-46. Given Evangel Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Wiregrass is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evangel Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Bugnar, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Zion Thompson, who scored 14 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Evangel Christian and bumps their season record up to 17-3. As for Wiregrass, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
Evangel Christian will head out on the road to challenge Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscaloosa Home Educators will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Wiregrass will take on Ezekiel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
