Bunn and Louisburg are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Bunn Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Louisburg Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bunn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
Bunn scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They came out on top against Thales Academy Apex by a score of 81-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jameir Strickland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Domantea Cooke, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Louisburg earned a 53-41 win over J.F. Webb on Friday.
Ronald Kearney was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamareon Strickland, who scored ten points.
The win got Bunn back to even at 4-4. Louisburg's record is now 5-2.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Bunn have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Louisburg, though, as they've been averaging only 29 rebounds per game. Given Bunn's sizeable advantage in that area, Louisburg will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bunn came up short against Louisburg in their previous meeting on December 1st, falling 39-34. Can Bunn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
