Mount Airy extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping them down to 4-9. They came up short against the North Stokes Vikings, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 two weeks ago.
Kallie Hutchens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ella Brintle, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base.
As for North Stokes, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
On North Stokes' side, Lillie Chaney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. Chaney has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rosalyn Mitchell was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Taylor Durham was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Mount Airy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Surry Central on the 14th. As for North Stokes, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 win against South Davidson on the 14th.
