The Rocky River Ravens pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. Rocky River has not had much luck with Independence recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rocky River's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markiest Houston, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Houston is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ross, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Rocky River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolbe Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kameron Jasper, who scored ten points along with nine assists.
Rocky River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Independence, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Rocky River will head out on the road to square off against Garinger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garinger is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Rocky River a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Independence will take on Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Butler's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
