Despite the defeat, Kelly Walsh saw an underclassman step up: Lillian Hudson scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kennedy Davila was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Kelly Walsh were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Karson Tempel out in front who scored 28 points along with six assists and five steals. The match was Tempel's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Kelly, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Kelly Walsh bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Kelly Walsh will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sheridan at 3:00 p.m. on January 5th. Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Evanston on January 5th. Evanston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Central is ranked 19th).
