The biggest upset of the week belonged to Newport, who took down 35th ranked Issaquah, 40-21. Isaac Dotson threw for 68 yards and one touchdown and ran for 108 yards in the win.
The Knights moved up to 20 from 57 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A KingCo - Crown. Newport climbed the ranks as a result of a 40-21 win over the Eagles.
Ballard's dynamic duo of Johnny Verduin and Nate Rauda proved tough for Garfield to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Verduin threw for 133 yards and four touchdowns and Rauda had 80 yards receiving. Michael Assefa helped Ballard's passing attack out by catching two balls for 53 yards.
Calvin Throckmorton made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mike Miller's team beat Issaquah. The 6-foot-5 sophomore forced two fumbles and grabbed 0.5 sack.
Skyline's Max Browne and Matt Sinatro have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Browne has thrown for 1147 yards this season, while Sinatro, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 313 yards. The Knights' Dotson leads the league in rushing yards with 429.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Spartans take on the Bulldogs. Skyline's offense has recorded 161 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Garfield has permitted only 178 on the year.
A big matchup in 4A KingCo - Crown this week will be when David Myers's team takes on Matt Taylor's team. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in fifth, while the Spartans are in first.
Newport was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Chris Bennett's team 40-21. The Knights came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 57 last week.
