The Esperanza Aztecs won the last time they faced the Brea Olinda Wildcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Esperanza came out on top against Brea Olinda by a score of 60-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Esperanza.
Esperanza found their leader in underclassman Alex Van otterloo, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Van otterloo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephan Esparza, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Esperanza's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Brea Olinda, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Esperanza will stay at home for another game and welcome El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully El Dorado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Brea Olinda, they will be playing at home against El Modena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Modena has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
