Ferndale extended the longest winning streak in 1A/2A/3A Northwest this week by beating Bellingham, 56-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Golden Eagles.
Nooksack Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Pioneers triumphed over Lynden Christian 51-16.
Nooksack Valley's Tanner Myhre and Trey Handy have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Myhre has thrown for 1144 yards this season, while Handy, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 34 catches for 508 yards. Luke Christianson from Lynden leads the league in rushing with 602 yards.
The marquee game in 1A/2A/3A Northwest this week will be the clash between the Lions and Ferndale. Lynden enters the game ranked 22nd in the state, while Jamie Plenkovich's team ranks 25th.
The Golden Eagles were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Red Raiders. Ferndale came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
