Even though the Valley Center Jaguars have not done well against the Fallbrook Warriors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Valley Center had just enough and edged Fallbrook out 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Valley Center has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Carson Yoder, who scored 27 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Garcia, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Myers, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Samuel Carmona, who scored nine points.
The win makes it two in a row for Valley Center and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Fallbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Center will take on Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Fallbrook, they will head out on the road to challenge Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escondido is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
