Amherst County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Amherst County Lancers and the Heritage Pioneers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, it was close, but Amherst County sidestepped Appomattox County for a 43-40 win. The win was just what Amherst County needed coming off of a 67-43 loss in their prior matchup.
Amherst County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zech Lilly, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaion Morris, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Heritage didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Staunton on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 56-51 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Heritage.
The win got Amherst County back to even at 3-3. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Amherst County came up short against Heritage in their previous meeting back in February, falling 58-51. Can Amherst County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
