The Langston Hughes Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Tucker Tigers on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 77-76 to the Tigers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Langston Hughes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brentis Schaeffer. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schaeffer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron LeMelle, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Langston Hughes has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for Tucker, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Langston Hughes on the road again on Friday and play against Newnan at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Tucker, they will square off against McIntosh at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully McIntosh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Thursday.
