Sparta is 7-0 against Black River Falls since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Sparta Spartans will be home for the holidays to greet the Black River Falls Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Sparta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
Sparta can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Luther and snuck past 36-33.
Sparta found their leader in underclassman Elexa Jones, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Seifert, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Black River Falls' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Mauston an easy 71-49 victory.
Sparta's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Black River Falls, they bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Sparta against Black River Falls in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 55-26 win. Does Sparta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Black River Falls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
