The Wenonah Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Fairfield Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wenonah has three straight victories, Fairfield has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Saturday, Wenonah beat Pinson Valley 51-41.
Wenonah's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jakerria Ringstaff, who scored 19 points along with six steals, and Samarian Franklin, who scored 18 points along with six assists and five steals. Franklin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Blanks, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Fairfield pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-65 to John Carroll Catholic.
Wenonah is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Fairfield, they bumped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Wenonah against Fairfield when the teams last played last Tuesday as the squad secured a 74-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wenonah since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
