Eastern Missouri recap October 29, 2013
Clopton/Elsberry led Eastern Missouri in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on Harrisburg. Jack Hicks threw for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 123 yards in the win.
Hicks was a passing and rushing force as the Hawks bested the Bulldogs.
Hicks was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 123 yards as Clopton/Elsberry fell to Marionville. Teammate Rheed Leake added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Thunderbirds' Cole Branson and Miguel Hudson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Branson has thrown for 1,415 yards this season, while Hudson has 31 catches for 439 yards. Hicks from mike scheibel's team leads the league in rushing with 974 yards.
Hicks of the the Hawks is just 26 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Hicks has rushed for 974 yards on 127 carries so far this year.
One of Eastern Missouri's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when North Callaway and Montgomery County face off next week.
The Wildcats are currently in first, while Mike Emmons' team is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Montgomery County and the Thunderbirds face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, John Klekamp's team comes in having scored 318 this season, while North Callaway has scored 204. The Wildcats scored 0 points last week as they lost to South Callaway.
Bowling Green made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,252 from 10,495. The advance stemmed from a 52-0 victory over the Bobcats last week.
