There's no place like home for the Hawkinsville Red Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road back in December of 2023. They rang in the new year with a 74-61 victory over Dooly County on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Darius Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Hawkinsville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nieem Blair, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Hawkinsville's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Dooly County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Hawkinsville will head out on the road to face off against Wheeler County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wheeler County's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Dooly County, they will be playing at home against Macon County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
