The Greenwood Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Berea Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Greenwood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Pickens 74-56. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Pickens is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nyjaviese Duncan and Jeremiah Brooks were among the main playmakers for Greenwood as the former scored 13 points along with eight assists and three steals and the latter scored 23 points. Brooks continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Triston Lewis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Berea suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Westside 86-42. Berea has struggled against Westside recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Greenwood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Berea, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Greenwood, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Berea when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Greenwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
