There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Lake Nona's senior Michael Kern, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Viera got a 37 - 8 win over Melbourne last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Bryce Norton #2. Norton #2 rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns. That performance landed Norton #2 among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Wekiva (1st in the power rankings) and West Orange (6th). Wekiva couldn't have suffered a more disappointing defeat as it lost by a narrow 30 - 29 margin to West Orange. Despite the outcome, Wekiva can look to its six-sack defensive performance as a definite plus, positive energy it will want to mobilize against Dr. Phillips.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 82-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Everything went Edgewater's way against West Port as it secured a 69 - 13 win. Hopefully the victory is satisfying enough on its own since Edgewater actually slipped three places in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Jones (5th in the power rankings) and West Orange (6th). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Of course, Jones and West Orange can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
