Bayshore is 1-9 against Gibbs since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bayshore Bruins will take on the Gibbs Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Bayshore focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bayshore can now relate to. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bayshore in their matchups with Booker: they've now lost seven in a row.
Antonio Romo put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with six rebounds. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Charles-Crowl, who scored five points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Gibbs stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 77-56 margin over Robinson. Given Gibbs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Robinson is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bayshore has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. As for Gibbs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-5.
Bayshore skirted past Gibbs 52-49 in their previous matchup back in January of 2021. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Gibbs' Collis Mckenzie, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Bayshore to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
