Eastern is 6-1 against North Adams since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will head out to face off against the Green Devils at 5:00 p.m. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Eastern was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Peebles on Wednesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Indians. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.
Addi Arey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Arey was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Allie Grooms was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Emmery Simpson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, North Adams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 16-6 to Fairfield.
Anna Armstrong and Paige Evans stepped up to the plate in a big way. Armstrong scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Evans went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Ahlyesa Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Eastern's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3. As for North Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
North Adams' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for North Adams, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Eastern's sizable advantage in that area, the Green Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Eastern took their win against North Adams in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-6 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Green Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
