Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. The Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers and The First Academy Royals will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 76-47 defeat at the hands of Santa Fe Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Elijah Reynolds, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Chanda, who scored seven points along with 18 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe Catholic only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, The First Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Lake Highland Prep by a score of 55-52. While losing is never fun, The First Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Lake Highland Prep is ranked 40th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lorenzo De jesus, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Max Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for The First Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 67.1 points per game. However, it's not like The First Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 59.9 points per game. The only thing between Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and another offensive beatdown is The First Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against The First Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 75-70 win. Does Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will The First Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
