The Broughton Capitals's five-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They blew past Cary 60-33 at home. That's another feather in the cap for Broughton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Broughton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kalajah Wright led the charge by scoring 8 points along with 8 steals and 7 rebounds. Wright is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kyra Gustus was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 steals.
Broughton's win bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Cary, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broughton will square off against Millbrook at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Millbrook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Cary, they will head out on the road to face off against South Garner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Garner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cary in North Carolina (South Garner is ranked 113th, while Cary is ranked 368th).
