The Patrick Henry Academy Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Cross Schools 96-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hugh Fairey was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 steals. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Searles, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Cross Schools' loss came despite strong showings from Kiran Boggess and Luke Fulda. Boggess scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Fulda scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Quintin Beasley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Patrick Henry Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points per game. As for Cross Schools, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cross Schools at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Cross Schools will be home for the holidays to greet Step of Faith Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
