The Braxton County Eagles lost against the Roane County Raiders back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Braxton County took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. Braxton County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Braxton County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Crockett, who scored five points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Steve Boggs, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Roane County to victory were Cam Cumpston and Shaun Caldwell. Cumpston scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals, while Caldwell scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that Cumpston grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Hunt, who scored eight points.
Braxton County's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Roane County, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Braxton County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Webster County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in West Virginia (the Highlanders are ranked 29th, while the Eagles are ranked 110th). As for Roane County, they will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ravenswood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three matchups.
