The Belen Eagles lost against the Los Alamos Hilltoppers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Belen falling 57-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Los Alamos: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Belen still got an impressive performance from Jaelynn Bob, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Trujillo, who scored eight points.
GG Romero had a dynamite game for Los Alamos, scoring 33 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Romero has scored at least 25% of Los Alamos' points. Gerrianna Romero was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Belen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Los Alamos, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belen's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Moriarty at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Moriarty is ranked 86th, while Belen is ranked 89th). Los Alamos won't have much time to rest: their next match is against West Las Vegas at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th.
