Purvis has gone 8-2 against Lawrence County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tornadoes will host the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Purvis is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Purvis is returning to their home field after beating Columbia on theirs, despite the fact Columbia has dominated at home this season. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Wildcats on Friday. Considering the Tornadoes have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Drew Swan and Cannon Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Swan tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Turner tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Swan went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Turner scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, JoJo Parker was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Banks Teater was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Purvis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Lawrence County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against Loyd Star, falling 11-1. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Lawrence County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Prestridge, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Purvis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Lawrence County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Purvis hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lawrence County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
