Avella is 0-3 against Union Area since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Avella Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Union Area Scotties at 12:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Avella's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. Their rough 55-35 defeat to Carlynton might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Avella has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Avella saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryce Wright, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Westley Burchianti, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Union Area's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rochester.
Avella has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Union Area, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
