Football Recap: Grant Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Grant rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 35-22 win over the Edison Vikings. The victory was familiar territory for the Pacers, who have now won five contests in a row.

Grant was led to victory by Malikii Lavern and Blake Nycum. Lavern rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, while Nycum threw for 136 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Nycum's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pacers' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grant was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Edison's loss came despite strong showings from Devin Rasmussen and Kailan Beaver. Rasmussen threw for 442 yards and three touchdowns, while Beaver picked up 174 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Beaver's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards.

Grant's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Edison, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Grant will challenge Oak Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
