The Clarksville Panthers will face off against the Scranton Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clarksville will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Waldron on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past the Bulldogs 12-1.
Addison Phillips was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Tosca Rodgerson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Clarksville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Scranton came out on top against Nemo Vista on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Red Hawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.
DeLaney Mainer (2026) was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Scranton got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Croft (2028), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Marrissa Layes (2026), who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Clarksville's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Scranton, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
Everything went Clarksville's way against Scranton when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Clarksville made off with an 18-1 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
