It was a good run, but the Holy Family Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mead. If Holy Family hoped to take revenge for the 63-43 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Holy Family saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Schott scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joseph Portillo jr, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Mead was led to victory by Matthew Angelo and Dominic McLawrence. Angelo scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while McLawrence scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McLawrence has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Willyard, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Holy Family's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-5. As for Mead, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Holy Family will be playing in front of their home fans against Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greeley West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Holy Family is ranked 45th). As for Mead, they will head out on the road to challenge Windsor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Windsor's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
