Fremont extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-14. They came up short against the Mercy Monarchs, falling 11-3. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Monarchs earlier this season, when they won 9-4.
Megan Thomson put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Morgan Sintek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
As for Mercy, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
On Mercy's side, they got a great performance from Alexis Nuefind as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Rae Carmichael was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Halley Heavey, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Fremont will host Norfolk at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.82 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mercy, they will take on Lincoln Southeast at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.45 runs per game on average), something the Monarchs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
