The Whitney Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Sheldon Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Whitney's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Sheldon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Whitney's victory against Davis Sr. wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Taylor Cordell tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rebecca Rau was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sidney Kleiner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Whitney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Davis Sr. only posted a batting average of .241.
Meanwhile, Sheldon beat Laguna Creek 5-2 on Wednesday.
Micah Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miyani Marshall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Regan Wise, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Sheldon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Whitney, their record now sits at 15-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitney hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Sheldon struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitney came out on top in a nail-biter against Sheldon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
