Stratton is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Cheyenne Wells is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Stratton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Caliche 70-32. The Eagles pushed the score to 54-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Buffaloes had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Drew Fox, who rushed for 259 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 65 yards. Judson Isenbart was another key player, gaining 58 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stratton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cheyenne Wells faced off against Branson/Kim on Saturday. The Tigers blew past the Bearcats, posting a 70-21 victory.
Cheyenne Wells didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Kooper Brossman led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Trey Scheler has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Cory Hill got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Cheyenne Wells' win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Stratton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Stratton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 248.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Stratton against Cheyenne Wells when the teams last played back in August, as the squad secured a 50-22 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
