The Giltner Hornets gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past Harvard 59-20 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-11.
Preston Larson was a one-man wrecking crew for Giltner as he dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cooper Reeson, who scored 8 points along with 7 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Harvard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cody Fishler. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Harvard struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Giltner pulled down 18.
Giltner's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Harvard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Giltner will square off against Franklin on Saturday. As for Harvard, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
