Football Recap: Rock Port Piles Up the Points Against St. Joseph Christian

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rock Port had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They blew past the St. Joseph Christian Lions 70-12. Considering the Blue Jays have won ten matchups by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brock Holmes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 224 yards and five TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Holmes is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Holmes was just one part of a punishing run game: Rock Port was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Rock Port's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for St. Joseph Christian, they moved to 6-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Rock Port will take on Concordia at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Orioles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Jays surely won't give up without a fight. St. Joseph Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
