Volleyball Recap: Brookland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Brookland can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Westside Warriors on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat last Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Brookland still got an impressive performance from Lexie Schuermann, who had 30 digs and five assists. Schuermann is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Vada Watkins had an outrageously good game for Westside as she had 31 digs and three assists. Those 31 digs gave Watkins a new career-high.

With the defeat, Brookland broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 22-15-1. As for Westside, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-4-2.

Brookland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westside, they will face off against Pulaski Academy on Saturday.
