Football Game Preview: Appoquinimink Jaguars vs. Cape Henlopen Vikings

Appoquinimink has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cape Henlopen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Appoquinimink is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: St. Georges Tech, who was ranked 11th at the time (Appoquinimink was ranked fourth). The Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Hawks 35-0. The Jaguars have beaten the Hawks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hawks has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cape Henlopen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 12th. Everything went their way against Hodgson Vo-Tech on Friday as they made off with a 34-8 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Appoquinimink better focus on containing Jameson Tingle and Ozmeer Batson as the pair were huge in Cape Henlopen's win. Tingle rushed for 50 yards and two scores, while Batson rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown.

Cape Henlopen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Cape Henlopen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Quardell Richards and Jamar Beasley. Cape Henlopen got some further help from Javier Morales: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles.

Cape Henlopen's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Appoquinimink, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Appoquinimink was able to grind out a solid win over Cape Henlopen in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 21-14. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
