The Hamilton Braves will head out to square off against the Biggs Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hamilton comes in on nine and Biggs on four.
On Friday, Hamilton really took it to Maxwell for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-7 win. Fans of the Braves have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
It was another big night for Kayden Strong, who rushed for 184 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Case Porter was another key player, picking up 131 receiving yards and three scores.
Hamilton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Maxwell to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The team can thank Barrett Boehm for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hamilton hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.47 or higher in three consecutive games.
Hamilton's defense didn't let Levi Velasquez, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Adam Simson, Cesar Leal, and Diego Vasquez, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Biggs didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Williams on Friday, but they still walked away with a 27-22 victory.
Biggs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cashten Acosta, Dennis Dewhurst, and Hudson Brewer picked up one apiece. Acosta also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Biggs is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.
Hamilton's record is now 9-0. As for Biggs, their record now sits at 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Hamilton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Biggs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Hamilton came out on top in a nail-biter against Biggs in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, sneaking past 18-16. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Wolverines' Skyler Long, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Braves still be able to contain Long? There's only one way to find out.
