It was a good run, but Rolling Hills Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves, falling 14-4.
Matthew Moyer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Moyer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last six times he's played.
Moyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Samuel Lopez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Rolling Hills Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Rolling Hills Prep will square off against Santa Ana Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.93 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they will venture away from home to take on Peninsula at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
