The Elkton Golden Elks had to endure a 15-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Tri-State Christian with a 45-41 victory on Thursday. That 45-41 margin sets a new team best for Elkton this season.
LeeAnn Pugh continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Beougher, who scored 14 points.
Elkton's victory bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Tri-State Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkton's road trip will continue as they head out to face North East at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Tri-State Christian, they will challenge Tower Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tower Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tri-State Christian in their respective states (Tower Hill is ranked 28th in Delaware, while Tri-State Christian is ranked 129th in Maryland).
