It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Churchill County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 19-14 victory over the Lowry Buckaroos. Winning may never get old, but the Greenwave sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Tommy Ames made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Trevor Hyde and Anthony Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Hyde went 3-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Giovanetti, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
