The Norris Titans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Bennington by a score of 57-47. Given Norris' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Bennington is ranked 38th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norris can attribute much of their success to Grace Kohler, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Nicole Keetle was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the loss, Bennington saw an underclassman step up: Skylar Johnson scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Robinson, who scored six points.
Norris' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Bennington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Norris will head out on the road to face off against Hastings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bennington won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Omaha North at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Omaha North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 two weeks ago.
