Basketball Recap: Taylor Skates Past Northfield with Ease

Taylor won the last time they faced Northfield and things went their way on Friday too. The Titans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Norsemen 58-31. The Titans not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 27, 2024 (when they won 64-37).

Taylor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javionne Harris, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 17 points and eight boards. Harris has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drey McClatchey, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 14 points and five steals.

Taylor was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only posted two.

Northfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cody Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Ryder Schram was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

The win got Taylor back to even at 1-1. As for Northfield, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Taylor will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northfield, they will square off against Peru at 7:45 p.m. on the 13th.
